Elizabeth and George Ainslie of Swarthmore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a 10-day stay in London last June. They were married on June 25, 1966, and have lived in Swarthmore since 1979.

The Ainslies hosted a dinner at the Grays Inn, one of London’s four medieval Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) for 28 friends and family members, including one of their four grandchildren. Among the guests were five other Swarthmoreans: Ralph and Joanna Jacobs (former borough council members), Ann and Larry Green, and George Mulford.

Elizabeth and George’s children, Matthew and his wife, Maggie, Eleanor and her husband, Dean Anderson, and Roger, wrote and performed a special song that they had written for the occasion.

Elizabeth says, “It was a wonderful 50th anniversary!”
