The Scott Arboretum conducts its Spring Sale next weekend, with a preview party Friday night. May 12, members’ priority shopping on Saturday morning, and the public sale Saturday afternoon. All events will be held in the Wister Center parking lot at Scott’s College Avenue location.
Friday night’s “Special Friends” preview party may be bought in advance for $40 or at the door for $50. With your admission, you’ll get first crack at the selections, and enjoy refreshments as you shop from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Saturday sale is open only to Scott members from 10 a.m. to noon, then to the public from noon to 3 p.m. This is a chance to invigorate your garden with a choice of over 200 hard-to-find selections, unusual tropicals and annuals, deciduous azaleas, spring-blooming perennials and shrubs. Plant experts will be on hand to help with your selection and answer your garden questions.
Also note that Friday is National Public Garden Day, and the pretext for a one-hour guided walking tour of the Scott collections on the grounds of Swarthmore College, led by Scott staff, and free to all. Bad weather will cancel the tour.
