Spring doesn’t start until the Scott Associates Spring Celebration happens. This year, the date is Sunday, March 19, and the place is Lang Performing Arts Center at Swarthmore College, where Scott Arboretum and its members gather to shake off the winter’s chill in a program beginning at 4 p.m.
The 2017 Scott Medal and Award will be presented to R. William Thomas, who will speak about his passion for horticulture and teaching.
Bill Thomas is executive director of Chanticleer, the esteemed public garden in Wayne, and a leader of the American Public Gardens Association and Greater Philadelphia Gardens.
Over more than 30 years in the profession, he has done much to promote our region as an international center of horticulture and public gardens, and to educate countless students, professional and amateur gardeners in the science and art of gardening.
Scott Associates and guests will toast Bill with champagne and hors d’oeuvres following his presentation. All are welcome to this free event, but must register at scottaroretum.org or (610) 328-8025.
