SRS 5th graders participated in the “Build a Dream House” Habitat for Humanity competition.

On Saturday, March 18, eighteen 5th grade Swarthmore-Rutledge School students participated in the Habitat for Humanity “Build a Dream House” competition. This year the competition was held at the Church Farm School in Exton. Entries were judged by professional architects, engineers, builders, and designers.

Criteria were based on: originality/creativity, “Go Green” theme; use of materials, independent effort; and appearance/design.

Among 90 teams, SRS teammates Caeli Rieger and Violet Barton took home the Fan Favorite award while teammates Marley Feinberg and Katie Murphy won third place overall.

We commend all of our budding architects, engineers and designers for the great effort they put into their dream houses! Thank you to those parents who made the trip to support our students. The houses are currently on display in the SRS library. They are creative, innovative and fun to check out!

Congratulations to: Audrey Stevens, Rosalie Midgette, Amanda Anckaitis, Claire Ross, Anna Benner, Violet Barton, Katie Murphy, Caeli Rieger, Marley Feinberg, Shon-Oneal Mason, EC Melly, Andrew Deppen, Jenna Micklin, Janna Murphy, Ben McErlean, Arnie Berger, Jillian Thomas and Marin Horwitz.
