Pottery Party to Honor Carol Seymour, Benefit CAC Ceramics Program

3-4 cac Carol

Longtime potter and teacher Carol Seymour creates a pot on the wheel at Community Arts Center’s Bea Dallett Ceramics Studio.

The equation is this: Mud + Fire = Magic. You can help prove it on the evening of Saturday, March 12, by attending a “Pottery Party” to raise funds for the Beatrice S. Dallett Ceramic Studio at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford. The event is a celebration of ceramic art, and of one of its foremost practitioners, Carol Seymour of Swarthmore, coordinator of the ceramics studio, and teacher of thousands of CAC student potters over the past 40 years.

Works from Carol and other members of the Potters Guild will be among those up for bid during silent and live auctions in CAC’s Duke Gallery that evening at the Mud + Fire = Magic event. Jazz, drinks, casual dinner fare and conversation will satisfy the senses. Guests can also learn about the creation of ceramics through demonstrations of hand building and throwing clay on the wheel, and raku firing of pots in the kiln at the ceramics studio.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door and are available at CAC, 414 Plush Mill Road in Wallingford; by phone at (610) 566-1713; and at communityartscenter.org.
