Next Friday, April 8, the Tony Award-winning play Side Man opens a six-performance run at The Players Club of Swarthmore.
Warren Leight’s drama is narrated and recollected by the son of a brilliant, troubled trumpeter. As jazz changes through the middle 20th century, so does his life and his family. The production is directed by Dennis Bloh of East Norriton, and features a talented ensemble of regional actors.
Friday and Saturday night performances are at 8 p.m.; a Sunday, April 10, matinee is at 2 p.m., and the Thursday, April 14, performance is at 7:30 p.m. A reception at 7:30 p.m. will precede the opening night show. After the matinee on Sunday, April 10, ticketholders are invited to meet the cast, and Dessert Night precedes the performance on Friday, April 15.
The play is presented in the Raymond W. Smith performing space, which is not handicap-accessible. Players Club of Swarthmore is located at 614 Fairview Road. Tickets are $10 at the door; information is at pcstheater.org and (610) 328-4271.
