Small Business Saturday is coming to Swarthmore on November 26! An antidote to the excesses of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday aims to bring shoppers into locally-owned businesses with special deals, offers and programs. In Swarthmore, merchants will kick off the Christmas shopping season.

The event was an innovation of American Express, urging shoppers to support their local merchants who create the unique fabric of a community. Local SBS “Neighborhood Champion” Emily Scott, owner of Compendium Boutique, said, “This is our fifth SBS, and we see the event getting bigger each year. Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to focus on all types of small businesses that day, not just retailers. So if you’re out shopping in the Ville, stop into one of our restaurants or cafes rather than heading to a chain restaurant.”

Stop into these participating Swarthmore merchants to see all the special offers available on Small Business Saturday: Broad Table Tavern, Co-ed Hair Salon, Compendium Boutique, Finely a Knitting Party, H.O.M., Swarthmore Campus & Community Store, Occasionally Yours, Pilates Connexion, Poco Loco, Swarthmore Barber Shop, Kandy Kids  and Wellness on Park
