Isabel Robinson Seymour, 95, active in women’s bridge at The Springhaven Club for over 40 years, died on December 2, 2018 in the Monticello section of Riddle Village, Media, Pa. She was the widow of Charles F. Seymour, Sr. They had moved into Riddle Village in 1993, after being longtime residents of Swarthmore and Wallingford.
Her bridge activities at Springhaven included many years of lessons by experts Charles Solomon and Arthur Robinson, serving as captain of the third team, club manager, chairperson, and captain of the team for over a dozen terms. She enjoyed playing for Springhaven in the Philadelphia Bridge League team matches from September to April and scoring the summer duplicate games on her laptop computer. She also ran the duplicate games at Riddle Village. She accumulated over 500 master points from ACBL, and was a golden age master.
Isabel also enjoyed women’s golf at Springhaven, playing as captain of the second team before moving to the first team. She shot a hole in one on Springhaven’s 15th.
She enjoyed knitting and kept her family well supplied with sweaters and afghans. She also knitted afghans for the fall fairs of Riddle Village and Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, and completed 1,000 baby caps for the newborns at Crozer Hospital. She was a volunteer at Riddle Village, serving as a cashier of the Emporium many Thursday mornings.
For many years, she was active in The Players Club of Swarthmore, appearing in 26 productions, often opposite her husband, and helping with makeup and prompting. She taught Sunday school and sang in several choirs. Married in 1947, she decorated three apartments and six houses, and enjoyed watching her children/grandchildren grow and play hockey, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, and soccer as well as seeing them perform in musicals and plays. She and Charles enjoyed 24 cruises together. She was a faithful member of the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church.
Isabel was born in Philadelphia, and her family moved to Manoa when she was four years old. She was graduated from Haverford High School in January, 1941, then attended the Philadelphia School of Office Training. She was employed by Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, Philadelphia Yacht and Aircraft Agency, and H.M. Dickman Advertising before becoming a fulltime mom, with three in diapers (and later in college) at the same time.

Fitzgerald (Michael) of Chester Heights, Pa.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Duke Robinson; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
