For its opening show of the 2019-2020 season, The Players Club of Swarthmore presents Mamma Mia, a feel-good musical comedy woven around many of ABBA’s greatest hits, featuring music and lyrics by Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and book by Catherine Johnson. Mamma Mia runs from Friday, September 13, through Saturday, September 28.

Sophie dreams of a perfect wedding, where her father gives her away. But who is her father? Her mother Donna isn’t talking about her past, but Sophie is resolute and finds three possible fathers in her mom’s back pages: Sam, Harry, and Bill. Of course, she secretly invites all three to her wedding, giving rise to intense emotions and embarrassment; mayhem and merriment; singing, dancing and laughing.

Mamma Mia is directed by Ryan Goulden with musical direction by Nora McDonnell and choreography by Joanne McBride. Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Audiences can meet the artists in a talkback discussion following the Sep. 22 performance. Buy tickets online at www.pcstheater.org or at the door. The theater is at 614 Fairview Road in Swarthmore.
