From June 3 through June 16, 2019, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 21 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, head injury, hemorrhaging, change in mental status, unconscious person, hypertension, seizures, accident w/injury, medical alarm, abdominal pain, diabetic emergency, suicide attempt, subject down, and animal bite.

Automatic Fire Alarm

Two alarms in Swarthmore, on the 300 block of Rutgers Ave. for a pull station activation, and on the 500 block of N. Swarthmore Ave. for a 2nd fl. smoke alarm activation; two in Nether Providence Twp. on the 900 block of Twyckenham Rd. for a 1st floor smoke detector activation, and on the 700 block of Putnam Blvd. for a fire alarm activation for at least 10 minutes; one in Springfield Twp. on the 600 block of S. Chester Rd. for an accidental trip of the alarm system.

Automobile

Three alarms in Nether Providence Twp.: at Governors Dr. & Canterbury Ln. for an accident with a possible leg injury, on northbound I-476 NB for an accident with a neck and a head injury, and at Bullens Ln. and S. Providence Rd. for an accident with a possible head injury.

Building

Two alarms in Morton, on the 100 block of Providence Rd. for a contractor igniting insulation, and on the 200 block of Fairhill Rd. for the odor of something burning inside.

Hazmat

Three alarms in Swarthmore, on the 200 block of Kenyon Ave. and on the 500 block of Walnut Ln., both for carbon monoxide alarm activation, and at Elm Ave. & Cedar Ln. for a natural gas leak outside. One alarm in Morton at Morton Ave. & the SEPTA station for a strong smell of natural gas outside.

Wires

Swarthmore, Yale & Harvard Ave. for a transformer fire.

Mutual Aid Calls

Three to Morton/Rutledge, five to Nether Providence Twp., and one to Springfield Twp.
