Thanks from ‘Children of the Wind’

To the Community:

The Swarthmore community and beyond came together on Saturday, July 27, to raise money to help the children at the southern border of the United States. The Children of the Wind fundraiser, sponsored by Young People’s Theatre Workshop, was able to raise $6,400 for the children through music, financial donations, and the generosity of spirit of all involved. Of that amount, $5,000 was donated to RAICES (The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) and $1,400 is earmarked for Together Rising, an organization that helps families in need.

The event featured more than 20 performers, and donations came in from more than a hundred different donors. This effort truly was the definition of community and proved, once again, why Swarthmore is such a special place. Special thanks to The Players Club of Swarthmore for donating its theater for the event. We send heartfelt thanks to all of the performers, cookie makers, audience members, and donors for opening their hearts and pockets to help the children.
