To the Community,

The Swarthmore Lions Club thanks all the families and friends in the Swarthmore community who helped make our annual holiday basket drive a welcome blessing to many needy families in Chester and elsewhere in our neighborhood. On Christmas Eve morning, they each received a festively decorated “basket” filled with food, fixins, and a rotisserie chicken.

Kudos to the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts, and to their respective scoutmasters, Andy Rennick and Chuck Kropac, for wrapping the baskets, bringing them to the Swarthmore Co-op, and packing them. We had a great turnout of people volunteering to be drivers, many of them delivering for the first time. Thanks to the Sherrys, the Carusos, the Verdis, the Sophocleses, the Dunnings, the Dohertys, the Dickeys, John Michael Noon, Michaela Whitelaw, Greg Milbourne, Jeremy Loomis, Tom Dillon, and Tom Hoch. We also appreciate the work of the Co-op staff, including Dave Blanda, Sam Gould, Tamika Foye, and their colleagues, who helped organize the groceries, produce, and chickens. Also, special thanks to Katie and everyone else at Pastuszek Real Estate for providing space to store the boxes.

Finally, the Lions are extremely grateful for the generous support that we received from the Swarthmore community to help offset the cost of the drive during this difficult time.

We wish you and your families the best of peace, joy, and good health in the new year.

Warm regards,

Jim Ryan
