To The Swarthmorean,

We would like to express our opposition to PECO’s plans to place high voltage lines along a number of streets in Swarthmore. 

The necessity of this approach is not clear, when lines have successfully been placed underground at other locations in the borough. 

The loss of trees will have a negative impact aesthetically and environmentally and will threaten property values. Concerns have also been raised in the medical literature about the long term safety of chronic exposure to high voltage lines. 

We join other residents of Swarthmore who believe that this project must be halted.
