Priority: Delco Thrive

My family has recently enjoyed delicious take-out meals from two restaurants we had never heard of before, thanks to Transition Town Media’s new program, Priority: Delco Thrive. The brainchild of Ulysses Slaughter, Priority: Delco Thrive chooses one Delaware County food establishment per month for customers to “blitz.”

Pay local workers better

The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District is kept afloat – economically and socially – by the casual workers who come into town every single day to serve the community. Many of the casual workers are paid by the hour, at a wage that is probably barely above the minimum wage in Pennsylvania, if that, and do not receive health care benefits. While we are in a pandemic, we have the chance to reconsider what the community can do to support the workers who keep the district and its businesses operational.

Thanks to all who brought the holidays home

Last Saturday morning brought elves, reindeer, wrapped packages, Santas, grinches, and a sugar plum fairy running through our streets, culminating that evening with hot chocolate at the fire station following Santa’s arrival by train from Philly. In between, there were carriage rides, musical entertainment, dreidel games, a Kwanzaa celebration, a book signing, s’mores, and much more.
