  • June 3, 1 p.m.: A strong storm ripped a large branch from a tree onto a car driving on N. Chester Road between Elm and Ogden avenues. The driver escaped uninjured through the window. The car’s windshield, roof, and side mirrors were slightly damaged. Once the branch was disentangled from dangling electric wires, the car was towed from the scene.

  • June 3, 1 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Benjamin West Avenue because branches had fallen on a house. No one was hurt, but the house was damaged.

  • June 8, 12:25 p.m.: Two cars were traveling south on Oakdale Avenue toward N. Chester Road. The first car stopped to avoid traffic, which was backed up on N. Chester Road. The second car failed to stop in time. It hit the car in front, causing slight damage to both. No one was hurt, and neither car required towing.

Police responded to eight alarm calls, including false burglar alarms, fire alarms, and panic alarms.

Police responded to eight medical emergencies, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.

Other

June 3, 2:52 a.m.: While on routine patrol on the 100 block of S. Chester Road, officers discovered that a fire hydrant and several street signs had been damaged. They seemed to have been struck by a car. Officers discovered pieces of a red vehicle near the scene and shared this information with the Delaware County 911 center. A short time later, they were notified that the Chester City police had stopped a red Ford Fusion with front end damage in the 200 block of 24th Street. After failing a sobriety test, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. A preliminary hearing is pending.
