Unscientific Survey: Discomfort Levels

Unscientific Survey: Discomfort Levels

Our most recent Unscientific Survey, on readers’ comfort levels with various activities, had a robust response and a clear message: given the state of the coronavirus, you’re generally not very comfortable at all.

A majority of respondents reported feeling reasonably or completely okay with doing only three things: going grocery shopping (77%), dining outdoors at a restaurant (55%), and going to the doctor’s or dentist’s office for a routine visit (53%). Things dropped off precipitously from there. It’s not surprising that only 5% were comfortable going to a bar or a party, but the numbers for travel by air (6%) or SEPTA (10%), for visiting a friend with social distancing observed (31%), or going to a museum (17%) were lower than might have been predicted.

The takeaway is that Swarthmorean readers are a careful and conscientious bunch. Unscientific Surveys approves.
