The Writers Guild of Delco has Done it Again

Heather Koelle

The Writers Guild of Delco has done it again! Yet another published author has emerged from this group. Heather Koelle, a member of the Writers Guild of Delco, has published her first novel entitled INVISIBLE THREAD. The reader follows the lives, marriages, children, and grandchildren of the two main characters, who both possess psychic abilities that weave a connection between their two souls using the INVISIBLE THREAD.

Heather relates that the story line is based on the many memories of her own family life, with some extra adventures to spice up the plot. Her target audience is adult women and men sensitive to a book written about marriage and family. And her hope is that the reader’s ultimate takeaway is that love will be victorious. But with a mischievous tone, she warns the potential reader not to expect a Harlequin novel.

From start to finish, it took four years to complete INVISIBLE THREAD. Heather compares the work of writing to a birthing process. She advises that the effort is ten percent talent and ninety percent hard work. Also be prepared to rewrite again and again, until you are so sick of the book you want to throw it out the window. But your heart says no, and you must keep going, honing your rough skills, until it all comes together as a polished novel.

The hard work was worth it. Heather says that it was like a dream when she received the copies of her book in the mail. She was able to hold a book in her hand with her name at the top of the cover, and is justifiably proud that she accomplished this at the age of seventy-seven.

Heather has a dear friend who assisted her with the difficult task of editing her work and also credits her membership in the Writers Guild for providing the motivation for writing the book and helping her to navigate the publishing process.

The Writers Guild of Delco meets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the second Saturday of every month from September to June, at the Swarthmore Borough Building. The Guild’s primary charter is to help local writers at all levels improve their writing skills. It also provides its members with information about the publishing industry, so that if the writer decides to publish their work, they will be able to avoid some of the pitfalls and scams lurking within the industry. If you are simply curious or want to meet other kindred spirits who enjoy writing poetry or prose, feel free to stop by at the next meeting. Everyone one is welcome.

The Guild also has an online presence at delcowriters.org. You can contact the Guild by email at writersguildofdelco@gmail.com, or visit Writers Guild of Delco on Facebook.

INVISIBLE THREAD by Heather Koelle is available for purchase in EBOOK format or paperback from Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble with a ten percent discount through December 23. Her book will also be available at the December meeting of the Writers Guild.

John P. Sweeney, a member of The Writers Guild of Delco since the first meeting, is currently working on his novel titled Highly Unusual. John has experience writing in the journalistic style from working with the Delaware County Daily Times in the past. He is also known for his wife’s delicious Lemon Cake.
