To the Editor:

Last Saturday morning brought elves, reindeer, wrapped packages, Santas, grinches, and a sugar plum fairy running through our streets, culminating that evening with hot chocolate at the fire station following Santa’s arrival by train from Philly. In between, there were carriage rides, musical entertainment, dreidel games, a Kwanzaa celebration, a book signing, s’mores, and much more.

Home for the Holidays would not have happened without the work of over 100 volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped with the race, carriage rides, window decorations, music, crafts, games, crowd control, and more. Thank you to the police, the fire company, the public works department, our merchants, Bryn Mawr Trust, Swarthmore United Methodist Church, Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, waR3house3, Hobbs, The Inn at Swarthmore, and Jim McCambridge.

But a big special thank you goes to Pat Francher and Anita Barrett who left no detail to chance and made everything seem easy, and to Dave Augustine for lighting up his village for our town. Without them, this magical day would not have happened. Thank you, everyone, and remember: shop local.
