A memorable taxi ride

A memorable taxi ride

To the Editor,

In July 2017, I sat in the back of a taxi cab and was surprised to see two pictures of President Trump on the headrest in front of me. Curious, I asked the driver if he liked the president. With a thick accent, he introduced himself and said he had come to the United States from Russia 27 years ago. He posted those pictures to “engage and educate.” Needless to say, he had my attention. He then said, “The Republican party moved to the left and the Democratic party became like socialist party. The Obama Democrat is not the same as the JFK Democrat. The country was going in the wrong direction and the only hope for a course change was to elect Donald Trump as president.”

After watching the last two presidential debates, I remembered my friendly cab driver and wondered: “Is he somewhere out there engaging and educating?”
