Center of the community continues constant

To the Editor,

As all of us grapple with the upending of our lives due to the threat of COVID-19, there has been one essential constant right here in Swarthmore. It’s the Swarthmore Co-op under the tireless leadership of General Manager Mike Litka.  Day in and day out, Mike is modifying and improving services to his customers, keeping us all well informed of new protocols and the reasons behind them.

The Co-op has always been the center of the community. Now, it exemplifies the meaning of community as we all try to adapt to this unimaginable crisis. I laud Mike, his staff, the board, and other volunteers who are making sure that the Co-op’s customers have the food they need. It is lifesaving.
