Grow or stagnate

Grow or stagnate

To the Editor,

I have only been a member of the Swarthmore community for the past nine years, but I love it and it’s an integral part of my life. If we, the Borough of Swarthmore, want to grow and thrive we need to embrace change and part of this is to embrace economic opportunity. The proposed mixed-use condominium development on Park Avenue, is one of those opportunities and they do not come around that often.

It’s true that a couple of stores may be temporarily displaced. It’s also true that that development will likely have some effect on the “character” of our town. But, I maintain that Swarthmore needs to be economically vibrant to thrive, and this complex will help us to sustain this and avoid stagnation. Others may disagree, but, I say, bravo, bring it on!
