Accidents

  • September 21, 5:19 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Guernsey Road for a reported single vehicle accident. An investigation determined that the operator of the vehicle was traveling west on Ogden Avenue, became distracted, and jumped the curb, striking a “No Parking” sign and a telephone pole. The vehicle sustained damage that required it to be towed, but no injuries occurred as a result of the collision.

  • September 25, 12:08 p.m.: Dispatched following a report of a collision at an intersection, officers arrived at the scene and determined that one vehicle was traveling south in Cedar Lane and the other vehicle traveling east on Elm Avenue. The operator on Cedar Lane reported that sun glare caused them to not have a clear view of the intersection. This vehicle entered into the intersection without seeing the other car, which was traveling east on Elm Avenue, and was already in the middle of the intersection. The Cedar Lane vehicle struck the Elm Avenue vehicle on the passenger side, causing functional damage and minor injuries. The occupants of this car were transported to Springfield Hospital for follow up treatment.
