Accidents

  • September 19, 7:36 p.m.: A car travelling west on Yale Avenue turned right onto South Chester Road. A second car, heading north on South Chester Road, failed to stop at the light, according to witnesses. It then hit the first car. Both cars had to be towed. One driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

  • September 21, 12:27 p.m.: A car was traveling north on Swarthmore Avenue near Cresson Lane when several deer tried to cross the road. One deer tried to jump over the car, shattering the passenger-side window. The driver sustained minor injuries. The car did not need to be towed, and the deer all ran off. 

  • September 22, 1:36 p.m.: Two cars driving north on Cedar Lane stopped as they neared the light at Baltimore Pike. The rear car began to move before the front car did, striking the front car’s bumper. Both cars sustained minor damage. No one was hurt.

Thefts

  • September 9, 8:30 a.m.: Swarthmore police assisted Delaware County detectives and FBI agents in serving an arrest warrant to Sari Michelle Gray in the 100 block of South Morton Avenue. The national extradition warrant from Las Vegas, Nevada, was for theft, fraud, and related charges. Gray was taken into custody, processed by the Swarthmore police, and committed to the George Hill Correctional Facility pending extradition to Las Vegas.

  • September 16, 10:54 a.m.: Residents in the area of North Princeton and Benjamin West avenues complained to police of Biden-Harris signs being removed from front yards. Some of the signs were recovered behind Swarthmore-Rutledge School. Anyone with information, or who has had their own signs stolen, please contact Swarthmore police at 610-543-0123. 

Alarms

Police responded to 14 alarm calls, including fire alarms, panic alarms, and false burglar alarms.

Medical Emergencies

Police responded to 17 medical emergencies, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.
