  • December 3, 2:15 p.m.: A car traveling south on Walnut Lane attempted to navigate around a large parked truck. But when sun glare hit the driver’s eyes, she struck the truck’s rear with the passenger side of her car. The truck was driven from the scene, but the car had to be towed. No one was hurt.

  • December 8, 1:50 p.m: A Ridley Township police car was traveling east on Michigan Avenue, crossing Fairview Road with a green traffic signal. A second car, heading north on Fairview, failed to stop at the solid red light. It hit the patrol car near the passenger-side door. All occupants of both cars were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Both cars had to be towed.

  • December 10, 12:20 p.m.: A car driving north on North Chester Road failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Yale Avenue, hitting a car heading west on Yale. Both cars had to be towed. No one was hurt.

  • December 16, 2:43 p.m.: A car traveling south on Swarthmore Avenue during last week’s snowstorm began to slide on the snowy road. It hit the embankment on the west side of the roadway, then was propelled onto its side. The driver escaped and was transported to the hospital with a shoulder injury. The car was righted and had to be towed.

Police responded to 16 alarm calls, including fire alarms, panic alarms, and false burglar alarms.

Medical Emergencies

Police responded to 18 medical emergencies, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.
