Accidents

  • July 24, 4:45 p.m.: Two cars were driving north on South Chester Road approaching Yale Avenue. When the front car stopped, the driver of the second car decided to pass on the left. The passing car struck the stopped car, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No one was hurt, and both cars were driven from the scene.

    July 25, 2 p.m.: Two cars were driving north on Cedar Lane (Route 320). When the front car stopped for a red light at Baltimore Pike, the rear car struck its rear bumper, causing minor damage. No one was hurt, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

    July 30, 3:55 p.m.: A car was backing out of a driveway on the 600 block of North Chester Road when a southbound car struck its rear. No one was hurt, but the southbound car had to be towed.

    August 1, 1:02 p.m.: Two cars traveling east in the same lane of Baltimore Pike stopped for a red light at Cedar Lane. The driver of the rear car thought the light had changed and began to move, striking the bumper of the car in front. Both cars were slightly damaged, and someone in the front car was transported to the hospital for treatment of a minor injury.  

    August 10, 7:30 a.m.: Two cars were traveling on North Chester Road approaching College Avenue, one from the north and the other from the south. The northbound vehicle tried to turn left onto College Avenue as the southbound vehicle entered the intersection, causing a crash. No one was hurt, but one of the cars had to be towed.

Alarms

Police responded to 16 alarm calls, including panic alarms, fire alarms, and false burglar alarms.

Medical Emergencies

Police responded to 11 medical emergencies, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.
