From October 21 - November 3, the Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 30 calls for medical assistance in Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield and Nether Providence Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/trauma, cardiac emergency, accident with injury, back pain, subject down, extremity pain, assault, diabetic emergency, syncopal episode, medical alarm, pedestrian struck, sick person, overdose, seizures, respiratory difficulty, hemorrhaging and abdominal pain.

Automatic Fire Alarm

A busy period in Nether Providence Twp., with seven alarms for: smoke detectors on the 500 block of Scott Lane, the 100 block of Sharpless Ln., the 600 block of E. Baltimore Pike, the 100 block of Briarcrest Dr., and the 100 block of N. Providence Rd., an automatic fire alarm on the 300 block of Plush Mill Rd., and a general fire alarm activation on the 100 block of N. Providence Rd. Slower in Swarthmore, with alarms on the 700 block of Harvard Ave. for a smoke detector and the 100 block of College Ave for a zone 8 fire alarm, and in Morton-Rutledge in the 200 block of School Ln. for a zone 1 sprinkler room alarm.

Building

One each in Nether Providence Twp., 700 block of Hartford Ct. for a microwave fire, and Springfield Twp. in the 200 block of Gleaves Rd. for trash next to the dwelling.

Hazmat

Four alarms in Morton-Rutledge: three at Providence Rd. & N. Morton Ave. for odors of natural gas leak in the area, and one on the 100 block of Locust Rd. for a carbon monoxide alarm sounding. Two in Swarthmore for natural gas leaks, at the 100 block of S. Chester Rd. for a 1st & 3rd floor natural gas leak, and at 500 College Ave. for a natural gas leak outside.

Vehicle

Two alarms in Swarthmore, at Baltimore Pike and N. Swarthmore Ave. for a two vehicle accident with unknown injuries, and at Chester Rd. & Yale Ave. for a male on the sidewalk holding his chest. In Nether Providence Twp., an accident with entrapment at Turner Rd. & E. Baltimore Pike.

Other Calls

Two alarms in Morton-Rutledge, one in the 100 block of Bridge St. for arcing & sparking wires, and one for smoke in the 100 block of N. Morton Ave.
