From October 7-20, the Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 32 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield and Nether Providence Township, for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/trauma, cerebro vascular event, cardiac emergency, accident w/injury, back pain, head injury, subject down, extremity pain, suicide attempt, allergic reaction, injured person, syncopal episode, medical alarm, pediatric emergency, hypotension, nature unknown, unconscious person, change in mental status, and abdominal pain.

Automatic Fire Alarm

One alarm on the 100 block of Blackthorn Road in Nether Providence Twp., two in Swarthmore, on the 400 block of Riverview Rd. and on the 300 block of N. Chester Rd., and one at 725 S. Chester Road in Springfield Twp.

Building

One each for electrical outlets, sparking in Nether Providence Twp., on the 1100 block of Putnam Blvd. and smoking in Swarthmore on the 300 block of Dickinson Ave.

Hazmat

Two alarms in Swarthmore, on the 100 block of Yale Ave. for a CO detector activation and on Morgan Circle for a strong odor of natural gas outside; one call each for natural gas leaks in Springfield Twp., on the 300 block of Ballymore Rd. and in Morton on the 100 block of Providence Rd.

Vehicle

One alarm at 101 S. Chester Road for an auto accident with a head injury.

Wires

Alarms received for wire and transformer fires in Swarthmore on the 800 block of Yale Ave. and the 200 block of Rutgers Ave.; in Nether Providence Twp. on the 400 block of E. Country Club Lane (twice) and on the 500 block of E. Baltimore Pike; and in Morton-Rutledge, at Yale & W. Sylvan Ave. and at 32 S. Morton Ave.
