From September 23 to October 6, the Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 36 calls for medical assistance in Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall with trauma, cerebro vascular event, cardiac emergency, accident with injury, back pain, lifting assist, head injury, sick person, seizures, extremity pain, overdose, allergic reaction, injured person, tachycardia, syncopal episode, hemorrhaging, medical alarm and abdominal pain.

Automatic Fire Alarm

One in Nether Providence Twp. for a general fire alarm in the 100 block of S. Providence Rd. Four in Swarthmore: smoke detectors in the 100 block of Guernsey Rd. and the 200 block of Elm Ave.; a smoke/heat detector in the 400 block of Vassar Ave.; and a first floor fire alarm on the 500 block of Marietta Ave.

Building

Five alarms in Swarthmore: at Swarthmore College’s Eldridge Commons, for smoke coming from a vent and an odor throughout the building; smoke in the hallway at 117 S. Chester Rd.; a grill fire at the 200 block of Dickinson Ave.; smoke in a residence on the 400 block of Haverford Pl., and heavy smoke from a washing machine at 100 Park Avenue. One alarm in the 100 block of Plush Mill Road of Nether Providence Twp. for a dryer fire in the basement.

Hazmat

One alarm in Nether Providence Twp. for a smell of gas in the area of the 100 block of Ridley Dr. One in the 300 block of Dartmouth Ave. in Swarthmore for a stove that could not be turned off.

Vehicle

One alarm at Elm Ave. and Cedar Ln. in Swarthmore for a two vehicle accident.

Brush

One alarm in Swarthmore, on the 100 block of Providence Rd. for smoke but no flames in a tree next to the east building.

Wires

One alarm each in Swarthmore, on the 300 block of Haverford Pl. for a pole with a wire on fire, and in Rutledge, for wires on fire in the 100 block of President Ave.
