From September 9 to 22, the Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 26 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall with trauma, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, accident with injury, unconscious person, semi-conscious person, cerebro vascular event, back pain, lifting assist, head injury, pediatric emergency, sick person, seizures, extremity pain, overdose, assault, reaction to medication and dead on arrival.

Automatic Fire Alarm

Three in Nether Providence Twp.: smoke detector activations on the 300 block of Pritchard Lane and the 400 block of Turner Road; also a general fire alarm on the 200 block of Rogers Ln.; one each in Morton on the 100 block of S. Morton Ave. and in Springfield at 725 S. Chester Rd. for general fire alarms, and one in Swarthmore on the 200 block of Ogden Ave. for smoke detector activation.

Building

One alarm each in Brookhaven — odor of smoke in a building on the 3200 Block of Edgmont Ave., Nether Providence Twp. — dryer fire in the basement of a house on the 100 block of Plush Mill Rd., Ridley Park — heavy smoke and fire on the roof of a building on the 100 block of N. Swarthmore Ave., and Swarthmore — a 9th fl. fire alarm activation at the Strath Haven Condos at 801 Yale Ave.

Hazmat

Four alarms in Swarthmore, all reporting an odor of natural gas at: N. Chester Rd. and Elm Ave, the 400 block of Drexel Rd., at Walnut Lane and Hillborn Ave., and on the 500 block of Walnut Lane, where there was an actual natural gas leak. Two alarms in Nether Providence Twp., on the 600 block of East Baltimore Pike for a carbon monoxide alarm, and on the 100 block of Blakeley Rd. for natural gas leak in the area.

Vehicle

In Morton, at Baltimore Pike and Leamy Ave., a three car accident with possible neck injury, and at South Morton Ave. and Mitchell Ave., a Jeep on its side. In Nether Providence Twp. at West Brookhaven Rd. and Putnam Blvd., a two vehicle accident with rollover and injuries, and in Springfield Twp. at Baltimore Pike and Church Rd., an accident with possible head injury,
