From August 12 through August 25, 2019, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 33 calls for medical assistance in Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall with trauma, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, accident with injury, medical alarm, unconscious person, hemorrhaging, cerebro vascular event, change in mental status, sick person, hypotension, extremity pain, lifting assist, hyperthermia, tachycardia, nature unknown and amputation

Automatic Fire Alarm

Four alarms in Nether Providence Twp.: two at the same address in the 100 block of S. Providence Rd., for a zones fire alarm activation, and for a vestibule pull station alarm; one in the 100 block of S. Providence Rd. for a general fire alarm.; one in the 900 block of Twyckenham Rd. for a 1st floor smoke detector; one alarm in Morton in the 200 block of Main St. for apartment smoke detector activation.

Automobile

Two alarms in Swarthmore, at Yale and Rutgers aves. for a two vehicle accident with injuries and smoke coming from one vehicle, and Ogden and N. Chester Rd. for an accident with injuries.

Elevator

One alarm in Nether Providence Twp. on the 700 Avondale Rd. for an occupant trapped on the lobby floor.

Building

Two alarms in Nether Providence Twp., in the 100 block of S. Providence Rd. for smoke in the building, and the 600 block of Washington Ave. for a stove; one in Ridley Twp. in the 100 block of Morton Ave. for the odor of burning plastic.

Wires

One alarm in Swarthmore on the 700 block of Harvard Ave. for a transformer on fire.

Hazmat

Two alarms in Nether Providence Twp., in the 300 block of Somerset Pl. for a carbon monoxide detector activation, with a second alarm to the same address three days later; one in Morton in the 200 block of Main St. for a living room carbon monoxide activation.
